The day is getting shorter, the weather is getting colder, and that means that summer is coming to an end. But fear not! We have exactly what you need to perk up your spirits and raise your glass for a last hurrah before autumn comes in full force.

We’ve listed out three delicious cocktails and how to make them. We hope they make you as happy as they make us.

CLASSIC MOJITO

A mojito is always a welcome sight. Sugar, mint, and a splash of citrus blended for a brilliant flavour.

Ingredients:

  1. Fresh mint leaves
  2. ½ Lime cut into quarter wedges
  3. Two tablespoons of sugar
  4. 1 cup of ice cubes
  5. 1.5oz of white rum
  6. ½ cup of soda water

The process:

Go ahead and throw in the mint leaves and a lime wedge into a glass, then muddle them. Add your sugar and two more wedges and muddle again. Fill the glass with ice, pour the rum over it, then add your soda water. Stir, and ta-da! You’ve got yourself a mojito, you mixologist you.

The Moscow Mule

Everyone knows about the Moscow Mule, and its iconic copper mug. While you don’t need the mug (you should definitely use one though), you are going to want to make this. It’s delicious and refreshing.

Ingredients:

  1. 1.5oz of vodka
  2. .5oz of lime juice
  3. ½ cup of ginger beer
  4. A lime wedge
  5. Ice cubes

The Process:

This one is pretty easy. Pour your vodka and lime juice into a mug. Add some ice, stir, then add the lime wedge. There you have it, a Moscow Mule.

The Whiskey Sour

Ingredients:

  1. An ounce of simple syrup (you can make this yourself, or buy it wherever they sell cocktail mix/alcohol)
  2. Two ounces of fresh lemon juice
  3. Five ounces of whiskey
  4. Maraschino cherries
  5. Ice

The Process:

You may have seen that this takes FIVE whole ounces of whiskey. Don’t worry, this serves three (or one, if you’re determined). You may have also seen that you need fresh lemon juice. That’s not a problem. Slice up a lemon, and use a citrus reamer to get the juice out. Don’t have one? Luckily for you, Hutch Kitchen sells both FRUIT MUDDLE (LINK) and CITRUS REAMERS (LINK).

Combine the syrup, whiskey, and lemon juice together in a shaker and go at it for 30 seconds. You can strain the mixture into martini glasses full of ice for a clean look, or just go ahead and pour it in, pulp and all.

There you have it, a whiskey sour.

We hope you try out at least one of these recipes! If you do, let us know in the comments if you enjoyed it! Added your own twist? We’d love to hear about it.
