Things to do in Calgary Before Summer Ends!

Like all things, summer is coming to an end. It will be replaced by yellow and orange leaves, cooler weather, and the return of layers. Here’s a list of things that you’ll want to do before summer ends.

Float down the Bow.

Floating down the Bow is a time-honoured summer tradition. Grab your friends and your life-vests, and enjoy the ride. You’ll see the sights and enjoy the beautiful weather and water before it gets too cold.

Ride a Lime Scooter.

You’ve probably noticed the abundance of Lime scooters around Calgary, but maybe you haven’t had a chance to try it out yet You definitely should! They’re easy to use and ride, and are definitely a fun experience as you scoot alongside the Bow or in Prince’s Island Park. The cool breeze as the wind rushes against your face is welcome in this kind of heat too. Grab some friends and make an adventure out of it!

Enjoy Patio Season.

They say Calgary has only two seasons: construction, and winter. Well, we like to think of it as Patio Season and Winter. This city has amazing restaurants, pubs, and bars with wide-open patios. Enjoy a margarita and share some nachos in the sun! National on 8th has an amazing rooftop patio, where the downtown highrises tower over you while you’re sipping your beer.

Lake Louise

OK, so this one isn’t technically in Calgary, but it’s close enough that there’s no excuse not to go. Check out the beautiful sights and get some Instagram-cred when you post amazing photos. It’s hard to get bad photos, honestly. If you’re ambitious, get there by sunrise for a truly spectacular view.

Visit Union Hill Cemetery.

Honestly, it’s not as spooky as it sounds. It’s beautifully manicured, and on top of the hill there’s a cafe and a garden worth the walk.

Have a Picnic on Prince’s Island Park.

Or it’s lesser-known but equally lovely neighbour, St. Patrick’s Island. The three-day window of summer that Calgary has every year may be short, but it’s wonderful. Get that Vitamin D and tan going on with a picnic outdoors. Pack some sandwiches, some cheese, and some wine (shh, don’t tell anyone) and enjoy a day in the park with your loved ones.

Check out the Hotel Arts Pool.

Yeah, we know. Cliche. But cliches are rooted in truth right? And if you want a destination vacation experience without a destination vacation price tag, then the Hotel Arts is for you. They’ve got a fantastic pool on their roof, where you can swim, float, or bask in the sun in a chair. That’s what summer should be about.

That’s it for our list! Have you done any of these yet? Let us know about it! Anything that you love doing in the Calgary summer but we didn’t mention?
