Charcuterie is a perfect appetizer for almost all occasions. It’s simple, visual, and offers a little bit of something for everyone. Not only is it easy to share, but it also takes only a few minutes to set up and can be planned well in advance. Having an elegant board to serve charcuterie on is key.

Cheese

As any charcuterie lover knows, the cheese is the star of your platter and everything else is just a supporting role. With that being said, the more cheese, the better. You can never have enough! However, putting forth a variety will not only satisfy hungry nibblers, but can spark conversation and debate. We love blue cheese, but someone else might not be quite on board. We recommend showcasing a diverse selection of hard and soft cheeses. Putting out a variety of textures makes everyone happy.

Carbo

Make your cheese sparkle by pairing it with the perfect carbo combo. Whether it be a rosemary salted cracker or a thin slice of baguette, give your guests something that will compliment the flavours of the cheese.

Sausage & Other Cured Meats

A charcuterie board is not complete without an appearance from a tasty selection of cured meats. Just like cheese, it’s important to offer a variety of meats to choose from. Stick to meats that are easy to eat, such as pre-sliced pieces of sausage or thin slices of salted prosciutto. Put out toothpicks to make people feel more comfortable to helping themselves. The easability of your appetizer will likely make it more appealing for your guests.

Tasty Spread

Lastly, complete your charcuterie board by putting out a decadent spread that pairs well with your carbo and cheese. A tasty jam, dip, or a spread of roasted cherry tomatoes with garlic bits, is sure to make a lasting impression.

Save yourself the stress of preparing a complex appetizer at your next dinner party by serving charcuterie. Just make sure you offer a variety of choices to pick from and keep the easability of the dish in mind. Serve with toothpicks, napkins, and mini plates to make it perfect for sharing!
